Saklıkent ('Hidden City') is an 18 km gorge cut by an icy mountain river about an hour east of Ölüdeniz, one of the deepest canyons in the world. You cross a boardwalk clinging to the rock, then wade and scramble up the riverbed between towering walls, the water numbing even in high summer, which is exactly the appeal on a 40 °C day. Grippy shoes are essential (you can hire rubber ones at the entrance) and the current can run strong after rain. Most visitors come on an organised day tour, often paired with the ruins at Tlos and a riverside trout lunch.
