Kayaköy Ghost Village
Things to do · Ölüdeniz, Fethiye, Türkiye
Kayaköy is a hillside of several hundred roofless stone houses and two churches — a Greek Orthodox village (Levissi) abandoned after the 1923 population exchange between Greece and Turkey and never reoccupied. It's now a preserved open-air site, quietly moving to wander as the light drops and the ruins climb the slope in gold. There's a small entrance fee, the paths are uneven so wear sturdy shoes, and there are good country restaurants in the valley below. It lies about 8 km from Ölüdeniz, reachable by dolmuş via Hisarönü or on foot over the hill.
